| Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is the term for a severe and ongoing emotional reaction to an extreme psychological trauma. The latter may involve someone's actual death or a threat to the patient's or someone else's life, serious physical injury, or threat to physical and/or psychological integrity, to a degree that usual psychological defenses are incapable of coping. from the Wikipedia article on PTSD |

| PTSD symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, emotional detachment and/or numbing of feelings (dissociation), insomnia, irritability, hypervigilance, excessive startle response, memory loss, difficulty in maintaining concentration/focus, depression, anxiety, avoidance of reminders, and extreme distress when exposed to those things that remind the person of the traumatic event ("triggers"). It is generally accepted by the medical mainstream that PTSD cannot be cured. This video shows EFT's effectiveness for the treatment of PTSD. In it, Gary Craig works with a war veteran who has traumatic memories. This clip also includes a good introduction to EFT. |
